Caring for our Local Wildlife
Last half term, we learned lots about Living things and their Habitats in science and at forest school. During half term, the children were given an optional task to make a home for our local wildlife. In science, we had learnt that there are different kinds of habitats near school which need to be cared for. We discussed that near our school, we have lots of new houses being built and that some habitats are being destroyed. The children felt very passionately about this and many chose to take on the task- wanting to help these animals. The children, with help from parents and grandparents, returned to school with bird feeders, bird boxes, beehives, bug hotels and even a hedgehog home. We will observe and care for these over the year. Many thanks to those who supported with this task at home.
