Good character enhances all aspects of school life and prepares children to successfully interact with others as they take their place in society and in the workplace.
Character traits such as honesty, enthusiasm, courage, open-mindedness match our school values and are taught specifically through assemblies, collective worship and class lessons. The children are reminded to put these into action as they play and learn with each other.
Our pupils try to be "Harris Standard" in everything they do. This means aiming high and being the best you can be.
Pupils nominate their peers for a special weekly award if they see them demonstrating good character. These pupils are then displayed on the Harris Tree in the entrance hall.
Character-building activities are planned for all classes including leading collective worship, drama and concerts.
Our aim is that “Harris Standard” will continue to be the core aspect of our values and the well-being of children and staff will be paramount across the school.
