Coronavirus update 19.3.2020
Dear Parents
This is what we know so far…
- Our school will be closed from Monday 23rd March except for those children whose parents are key workers or defined as vulnerable children
- We are still waiting for the government to provide schools with a list of key workers and a definition of “vulnerable”. When we have clarification we will be contacting parents to let them know if their children should attend school during the “closure”
- During the closure period pupils attending school will not access any greater level of teaching than those who are learning at home and supported by activities set by their teachers via the school website
- From Monday morning teachers in each class will post activities on their class pages of the school website. It is impossible to replicate the classroom in this way but the activities should keep your child occupied and learning during this time. Contact your child’s teacher via email if necessary (email addresses were given out earlier this week)
- If your child gets through the tasks their teacher has set, look for other activities to do with them. BBC Bitesize has some useful activities and the BBC have promised to broadcast learning programmes over the next few months. Purple Mash and Times Tables Rockstars are also good activities to do at any time. One nice idea is to make a time capsule together to record their memories of this time. One day they will perhaps tell their grandchildren about it all!
- Remember to monitor your child’s mental health and be there and ready to discuss any worries they may have. You can find a wealth of guidance online
- Try to get out with your child and take some exercise every day, but keep a safe distance away from others if you can
- Tomorrow will be a non-uniform day and the teachers have planned some enjoyable activities as if it were the end of term
- Children will bring their PE kits home before Friday
- If your child will be attending school during the closure period they may wear their own clothes, school uniform is not required. Please make sure they are practical and suitable for indoor and outdoor activities
- We have spoken to Y6 pupils and made contingency plans for their “Leavers” activities if we do not return before the summer holidays
Kind regards
Mrs Gregory
