Lucy's English work
We had a fantastic afternoon on Thursday learning how to play golf. Thank you TriGolf and Mr Baines for organising this, we had lots of fun.
This week we are learning about money. Today we used lots of concrete resources which are the same value as coins such as base ten equipment, numicon, straw bundles and counters to show 1p 2p 5p 10p 20p 50p £1.
Some of the children exchanged 1p and 10p coins for one coin of the same value e.g.
10p = 1p+1p+1p+1p+1p+1p+1p+1p+1p+1p
50p = 10p+10p+10p+10p+10p
Counting on and Multiplying
This week we are learning about the maths symbol x (multiply). Today we used concrete resources to learn that multiplication is the same as repeated addition. The boys and girls enjoyed creating their own sets of 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s and writing the calculations to match.
In Science we are learning about living things and their habitats. This week we are looking at microhabitats. We set up six different microhabitats to find the best one to build into our bug hotel. We will return to each one next week to observe how many insects are living there.
