What is the PTFA?

The Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA) is where the parents, teachers and friends of the school come together to improve and enrich our children’s time at Harris Primary School.

As a parent you are automatically a member of the PTFA. It is not an exclusive club. Anyone who has a suggestion or wants to help will be warmly welcomed.

What do we do?

Raise funds to help Harris Primary provide more equipment and events for our children

Help run events that enrich our children’s time at Harris Primary

Help run events that bring our school community closer together

Last year saw parents, teachers and the local community helping with events that included School disco, Film night, Christmas Fair, Christmas plays, Harris Got Talent, Musical Evening and the Summer Fair.

How do our children benefit?

The money raised from the events goes towards helping our children and the School. Last year we raised around £9,000. This enabled the PTFA to help fund a whole school trip to the pantomime, an annual whole school pass for Blackpool Attractions, iPads, reading books, classroom visits by experts in history and English and much more.

What can I do?

There are so many different events during the year and there are many different ways to help. It’s a chance to share your skills for the good of school:

  • Help out organising events
  • Donate raffle prizes
  • Supervise at events for the children
  • Contact local companies for support
  • Look after a stall at one of the fairs
  • Come along to the events
  • Come up with ideas for new events
  • Become a class rep
  • Become a committee member
  • Come along to meetings

You'll see a request for volunteers come out in the school’s regular ParentMail newsletters. Your class rep will also remind you about volunteering opportunities.

If you want to get more involved, please just come along to one of the regular PTFA meetings (see the school calendar on the website). We discuss past events, share ideas and plan new events. It gives you a chance to contribute your thoughts and get involved with organising an event.

If you are not able to attend meetings and would like to get involved with events please contact us at the PTFA email address

Keep an eye on the school ParentMail, where you'll see regular PTFA information.
