Remote education for self-isolating pupils

Where individual pupils need to self-isolate but the majority of their peer group remains in school, how remote education is provided will likely differ from the approach for whole groups. This is due to the challenges of teaching pupils both at home and in school.

If my child is not in school because they are self-isolating, how will their remote education differ from the approaches described above?

 

All remote learning is provided via Google Classroom – this is the case for class, whole school and individual isolation.

If a child is self-isolating when the rest of their class is in school, teachers may choose to provide a progression of lessons from the Oak National Academy site curriculum which matches the topics being covered with the rest of the children in class. This aims to avoid children falling behind or moving forward in their education having missed out on some learning. This is particularly salient when delivering new material which requires some modelling before children can complete consolidation tasks.

Alternatively, teachers may choose to provide a version of the worksheets being used in school for children to complete at home, as they see appropriate.

Please note that, in this situation, due to class teacher responsibilities in school, teachers will be unable to be as responsive to Google Classroom when teaching in school but will give feedback on all work submitted to support children who are in self-isolating.
