Update for all Parents 30th March 2020

Monday 30th March 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

Message for all parents

All schools have been asked to remain open, where possible, under restricted circumstances to care for the children of key workers at this time of national emergency.

Last week we operated an emergency rota to support the children of key workers and introduced home learning for all pupils. This week we have moved to a more settled, longer term approach in light of the closure of Discovery Vine and lack of clarification regarding arrangements for the Easter holidays.

It is now looking very possible that schools will be closed for the rest of this school year. So we have found a solution which will enable us to continue to support the children of key workers whilst remaining on our own premises with the staff that the children know and trust.

Therefore we have decided that from today, Monday 30th March, until further notice...

  • School will operate from 8.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday to provide childcare for the children of key workers and vulnerable pupils. Our own teachers and teaching assistants will care for the children whilst they are in school.
  • There will be no whole-school Easter holiday this year. Provision for children of key workers will continue over what was the Easter holiday period and the two week half term holiday scheduled for May/June. Teachers and support staff will take their holiday entitlement on a rota basis over the next sixteen weeks so that provision can continue throughout.
  • Places are only available to children who have one or more parent who is a critical key worker, when their parents are working and where there is no alternative child care available.
  • Admin support will be provided by our office staff who will open the school office on a rota basis in order to complete essential tasks. If you need to contact a member of staff please contact them by email or telephone the school office between 8.30am and 9.30am.

I know that many of you are completing the home learning tasks set by your child’s class teacher. This will continue, but teachers will not set work when they are on holiday. Please see below for lists of holiday dates for teachers. During these weeks your child may take a break from learning themselves, re-visit work from previous weeks or direct their own learning and find topics that interest them.

I would like to thank our amazing members of staff who have demonstrated goodwill and generosity of spirit to step up at such short notice to support other key workers during this national emergency.

Kind regards and best wishes

Mrs Gregory
