Playing Dominoes and writing Numbers.

Tuesday 29th September 2020.

Baby Sophie visited Reception today.  We looked at what she could do and what her mummy needs to do for her.  We found out that Sophie has no teeth and that she drinks milk.  Yesterday Sophie tried some carrots and she liked them.  She sleeps in a cot and sometimes she gets up in the night for a cuddle.  Eleanor likes to help to look after Sophie.  Sophie wore a bib and she was dribbling; maybe because she is getting her teeth.  She likes to play with soft toys.  We enjoyed our visitors and we sang some songs and clapped for Sophie and her mum.  Thank you so much for visiting.

We have been planting bulbs today.  We shared the story Koala and the Flower by Mary Murphy.  We talked about how flowers grow.  We then planted a daffodil bulb to grow in the Spring.  We carefully put compost in a flower pot, made a hole using two fingers and put our bulb in.  We then put our bulb 'to bed'.  We know that we will have to water our bulb and that it will need sunshine to grow.  We are going to learn a song about daffodils too.

It has been lovely to see the children creating repeating patterns in their own play and also using repeating patterns when adding colour to their learning.

Today we have been counting carefully and also matching objects to numerals.  We have been using a pointy finger and putting objects in a line when we want to count accurately.  We are recognising that the last number in the count tells us how many there are.  We have enjoyed playing games that use these skills.
