Thank you for all of the lovely photos of homework - you have been busy bees!

This week in Maths, we have been working on our subtraction skills and recapping our number bonds to 10. Today we had a go at playing Hit the Button on the iPads. The children thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hit the Button is a resource that can be used free of charge on online, please see the link below. It can also be downloaded on the App store but there is a fee for this.,challenge%20and%20develop%20a%20child%27s%20mental%20maths%20skills.

For our homework this week, I would like you to play on the Number Bonds to 10 section on Hit the Button. Have a few goes - can you beat your score? How many can you do in a minute?

Please can you continue to practise counting at home – or anywhere and everywhere! (1s, 2s, 5s and 10s - forwards and backwards)

We are continuing to practise holding a sentence (saying a sentence a few times before writing it). We are trying to remember to use finger spaces between words, full stops and capital letters in all of our sentences.

Can you read your home reading book and write two simple sentences about a character from the book? Remember to hold your sentence in your head, say your sentence out loud at least twice before you write it. Write your sentence down, can you independently remember to use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops?

I love seeing photos of your child enjoying their homework. Please continue to take photos and/or videos of your child engaging in homework tasks and email them to me at

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or speak to any of the Year 1 team at drop off or pick up.

Thank you
