Week Beginning Monday 15th June

Good morning Year 2.

English: Be happy! Be brave! Be kind! This week you will explore some inspiring stories with key messages. Towards the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to spread a little happiness by writing your own story to inspire others. Please find this weeks lessons on the Lancashire English plan attached to this post. 

Maths: We will be using the White Rose Maths videos and activities again this week to help us with our multiplication work. Remember to listen for and use the multiplication vocabulary

  • Find Lesson 1- Multiplication sentences using the x symbol.
  • Watch the Video. At certain points it will ask you to pause and have a go. You should use your home learning book or paper to write your answers to the questions asked on the video.  After you have watched all the video you can complete the worksheet attached below this post.
  • When you have completed all your activities, ask an adult to check your work. Parents and staff please find the answer sheet attached below.

Topic: This week we will be learning about programs, coding and algorithms using BBC Bitesize video clips and games.

Read the information and watch the three videos about coding and algorithms. After you have watched the clips, scroll to the ‘Practise’ section and play ‘Activity 1’ to identify objects that can be programmed. Can you complete all levels?

English: Please refer to Day 2 on the Lancashire weekly plan. It refers to an extract from the story called The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright which I have attached to this post. 

Maths: We are continuing to learn about multiplication as arrays today. Remember, when we are drawing arrays, we can climb up the ladder and walk across the roof OR walk across the roof and climb down the ladder. Multiplication can be done either way round. Also listen for and use the multiplication vocabulary

Topic: Continuing with our computing, we are going to learn about Abstraction. When writing programs, codes and algorithms it’s important that we use simple clear details. Abstraction is about simplifying things. Working out what is important without worrying too much about the details.
