Welcome Back!
We are excited to kick off a brand-new school year together! The first week has been full of energy, smiles, and the joy of reconnecting after the summer. Our classrooms are already buzzing with curiosity and learning, and it’s been wonderful to see both familiar faces and new families joining our school community. Thank you for helping make the start of the year so smooth and positive. We know the year ahead will be filled with growth, discovery, and many memorable moments.

New Starters

A special welcome to our new EYFS children and their families who have joined Harris Primary this week. We are very pleased to welcome you to our school community. We also welcome 3 new teaching assistants to the team – Mrs Buck (EYFS), Mrs Vaughan (Year 2) and Mrs Desai (Year 4).

Considerate parking at drop off and pick up times

We kindly ask all parents and carers to park safely and responsibly when dropping off or collecting children from school. Please be mindful of our local residents by avoiding blocking driveways, parking on verges, or causing obstructions. Carnoustie Close (opposite school) is an access only cul-de-sac and should not be used for parking. Let’s work together to ensure everyone’s safety and maintain positive relationships with our community. Thank you for your cooperation!

Updated Home and School Communication Procedures

From this week, we are making a small but important change to the way we manage communication between home and school, to better support staff wellbeing and ensure messages are handled efficiently.

From the start of the new term, parents and carers will no longer be able to email teachers directly. Instead, all messages should be sent to:
📧 staff@harris.lancs.sch.uk

When emailing, please include your child’s teacher’s name and a short subject in the subject line. Our office team will monitor this inbox throughout the school day, make sure messages reach the right person, and respond to you where needed.

👉 Families with children in Reception or Preschool should continue to email the Early Years team directly at: 📧 EYFS@harris.lancs.sch.uk

This new system will help reduce the pressure of out-of-hours messages for teachers, while ensuring that communication remains clear and effective. Most importantly, it allows our teachers to focus their time and energy on what matters most—supporting pupils in the classroom.

Thank you, as always, for your understanding and support. If you have any questions about this change, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

At a glance – what’s changing from September:

  • Parents will no longer be able to email teachers directly.

  • All messages should be sent to 📧 staff@harris.lancs.sch.uk.

  • Please include the teacher’s name + a short subject in the subject line.

  • The office team will check messages, pass them on, or reply where needed.

  • Families in Reception or Preschool should use 📧 EYFS@harris.lancs.sch.uk.
