Sporting Achievements
🌟 Congratulations to our fantastic Year 5 and 6 swimmers! This week, the team represented Harris brilliantly at the Swimming Gala, showing determination, teamwork and great sportsmanship throughout. Every swimmer qualified from their individual heats to reach the finals, and together they secured first place in their division. We’re also incredibly proud to celebrate three individual medals—one gold and two bronze. What an outstanding achievement from a talented and hardworking team!
🌟 Well done to our excellent Year 1 and Year 2 athletes! Just before half-term, the team took part in the Preston School Multi‑skills event, showing brilliant focus and determination throughout. We are very proud of all the children who represented our school so confidently. A special congratulations goes to our Year 2 team, who finished in an impressive 2nd place overall. What a wonderful achievement and a great reflection of their hard work and positive attitude. Well done, everyone!
Behaviour Quality Mark
We are incredibly proud to announce that Harris Primary School has achieved the Gold Standard for Lancashire’s Behaviour Quality Mark this week! This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, hard work and positive attitudes shown by our wonderful pupils, supportive families and committed staff. The award recognises the strong sense of community within our school and the high standards we maintain in promoting wellbeing, positive behaviour and a caring learning environment. In April, a small group of our pupils will be selected to represent the school at a special ceremony to receive our plaque at County Hall. The Harris Way is the Gold Standard!
School Community Day (Outdoor improvement)
We would love to invite parents and grandparents to join us on Thursday 26th March for a community tidy‑up of our school allotment/gardening and active playtime areas. With spring on the way, we’re getting everything ready for the children to begin planting, and an extra pair of hands makes a huge difference. Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, your help would be greatly appreciated as we clear, tidy and prepare the space for a new season of growing. If you are able to help, please let the school office or Mr Groom know.
Ofsted Information
Our school is now in its Ofsted inspection window, which means inspectors may visit at any point to review the great work happening across our community. Schools are notified on a Monday morning if an inspection is taking place, with the visit happening on the Tuesday and Wednesday of that same week. Should we receive this notification, we will let parents know on the Monday as well. To help families understand what the inspection involves, we’re sharing a short Ofsted explanation video that gives a helpful overview of the process, and we encourage you to take a moment to watch it.
