Welcome to Year 5!

My name is Mrs Draper and I am the class teacher and Mrs Joel is our teaching assistant.

We have lots of exciting learning opportunities in Year 5 from topics such as the Vikings, Mayans and Ancient Greeks. We also have a one night residential trip in the Autumn term to PGL Winmarleigh Hall. This is a great opportunity for the children to shine outside of the classroom environment and take part in new and exciting challenges with their friends.

Important infomation

We have PE on a Monday afternoon taught by Mr Ridge. Children should come to school in their correct PE uniform on Mondays. Long hair should be tied back and all jewelry removed. If earrings cannot be removed, pleace ensure they are covered appropriately with plasters or tape.

Home learning will be set each term in the form of a homework menu. Please encourage your child to complete tasks regularly and share with myself - I really enjoy seeing what they have been up to outside of school.

Weekly spellings will be sent home and tested on a Friday. Spelling City can be accessed from home and is a fun way for the children to engage and learn the words they have been set.

At Harris, we love to read! Please ensure that your children are reading regularly at home and that they have their reading records in school daily.
