Welcome to Year 5
My name is Mr Price, the Year 5 Class Teacher and Deputy Headteacher. Mrs Ahmed and I share responsibility for Year 5, each teaching the class for part of the week, while Mrs Gallacher supports us in the afternoons. Together, we are delighted to welcome you to Year 5!
Year 5 is an exciting stage in our pupils’ journey at Harris Primary School. Children develop greater independence and maturity while continuing to show the enthusiasm, kindness and determination that make our community so special.
Our learning covers topics such as the Vikings, the Mayans and the Ancient Greeks. In the Summer term we enjoy a day visit to London on the train to visit the Houses of Parliament.
Important Information

PE: Wednesday mornings with Mr Ridge. Please ensure pupils wear the correct PE kit.

Equipment: All essentials are provided, though pupils may bring a small pencil case.

Homework: A half termly Homework Menu is set. Children should complete two pieces each week.

Spellings: Weekly spellings are set on Spelling Frame.

Reading: Pupils should read daily and bring their Home Reader every day.
Year 5 is a rewarding year where pupils take on more responsibility and grow in resilience, independence and curiosity. With the support of our families we know they will make fantastic progress and enjoy a memorable year.
